Breaking the Bottlenecks: Local Road Improvements
Road safety and traffic flow go hand-in-hand. Gino is focused on fixing the specific pain points that frustrate Vaughan drivers every day.
- Widening Highway 7 at Islington Avenue: Gino is actively pushing for the expansion of this critical artery to eliminate the current bottleneck and improve flow for Woodbridge commuters. Funds for Replacing the Canadian Pacific Kansas City (CPKC) Rail Bridge to accommodate the widening of Highway 7 to 8 lanes have been secured as part of the recently announced $697 million Federal grant
- Building-out the East/West Corridor: Kirby Road’s initial extension is NOW OPEN – a project assumed from York Region to speed-up delivery – extending Teston Road between Keele and Dufferin Streets with a new four-lane road and related infrastructure to patch missing links in North Vaughan’s grid
- Supporting Road and Transportation needs: Widening Huntington Road to four lanes; adding a mid-block crossing on Colossus Drive; extending Bass Pro Mills Drive from Highway 400 to Weston Road; expanding Teston Road between Pine Valley Drive and Kleinburg Summit Way with a new two-lane road alignment and related infrastructure
- Smart Traffic Optimization: By implementing centrally controlled traffic signals and better lane management, we are reducing idling times and getting you through intersections faster.
- Vision Zero Road Safety Plan: A multi-year commitment to reduce severe collisions through better lighting, clearer signage, and protected school zones.

Expanding the Rail Network: Subways & GO Transit
Vaughan is no longer a suburb – it is a major urban hub. Gino is advocating for a rail network that reflects our new reality.
- Yonge North Subway Extension: Overseeing York Region’s $1.12 billion investment to bring the TTC Line 1 East service into the heart of our region.
- All-Day, Two-Way GO Service: Relentlessly pushing for 15-minute service on the Barrie Line, ensuring transit works for your schedule, not the other way around.
- The Woodbridge-Bolton GO Line: Gino is a leading voice advocating for the long-term goal of routing new GO train service from Bolton through Woodbridge, utilizing the CP corridor to unlock north-south connectivity.

Affordability: The “One Fare” Advantage
Transit must be affordable to be effective. Gino was instrumental in the delivery of the integration of YRT, TTC, and GO Transit, removing the double-fare burden for Vaughan residents.
- 9.5 Million Trips and Counting: In 2025 alone, millions of cross-boundary trips were made under the “One Fare” program, saving residents hundreds of dollars annually.
- Economic Relief: For many families, this program represents a significant reduction in the daily cost of living.

A Greener, Shared Future

- YRT Electrification: We have already added 74+ battery-electric buses to the fleet – with 50 more slated for arrival in 2026 – moving toward a fully sustainable, zero-emission transit system.
- The total budget for this project is $389 million: Funded through a $136 million loan from the Canada Infrastructure Bank, a $76 million dollar grant from Canada’s Zero Emission Transit Fund and a $177 million investment from York Region.
- Shared Pathways: Investing in multi-use trails and dedicated cycling infrastructure that integrates seamlessly with our transit hubs for “first-mile, last-mile” travel.

A: This intersection is one of Woodbridge’s most significant “pressure points.” As your Regional Councillor, I have pushed for its inclusion in the active widening plan to improve flow. By expanding capacity at this critical artery, we aren’t just moving cars – we’re reducing the “cut-through” traffic that spills into our local residential neighborhoods.
A: This is where my banking background comes into play. These projects are being funded through a combination of Regional development charges and Provincial-Federal partnerships.
A: Yes, but it requires relentless advocacy at the Metrolinx (Provincial) level. I am championing the use of the existing CP rail corridor to create a north-south rail link. This isn’t just a vision; it’s a necessary solution to Vaughan’s long-term growth. My goal is to ensure the Province prioritizes this route to give Woodbridge residents a direct, commuter rail alternative to driving.
A: If you transfer between YRT, the TTC, or GO Transit, you now only pay once. For the average Vaughan commuter, this adds up to over $1,600 in savings per year. I was a steadfast supporter of this program because it provides immediate, tangible cost-of-living relief without compromising service levels.
A: Not necessarily. Our Vision Zero Safety strategy is about “Smarter Design,” not just slower speeds. By Centrally managing traffic signals and improving intersection geometry, we can actually increase traffic flow while simultaneously making it safer for pedestrians and cyclists. Safety and efficiency must go hand-in-hand.
A: We are updating our Shared Pathways strategy to ensure all modes of transport can coexist safely. This includes clearer signage, dedicated lanes where possible, and public education campaigns. Road safety is a collaborative effort, and my focus is ensuring that everyone, regardless of how they travel, knows the rules and feels protected.
